Spring Update
Well, lately I've been taking advantage of this very needed California rain. I have been riding alot of natural terrain jumps, here in Bakersfield. I ride straight from my house out to the hills and try to find unriddin territory as well as the old school jumps that started my freestyle career. I've been having alot of fun switching up my riding from ramps to natural jumps. I do alot of ramp shows during the summer when it's hot and dry in the hills, so it's nice to keep up on my bike skills during the winter with every type of terrain, rather than just a ramp to landing. My season doesn't start until May 1st, so this next month will allow me to finish up some last ideas or changes for my JeffGriffinFMX.com/ sullen booth that I will bringing to all of my shows this year. I recently made a purchase of sullen merchandise that consists of Hats and T-shirts.... I will also be selling JeffGriffinFMX.com posters. I'm pretty happy with how its looking so far... Not bad for being a Rider as well as a Salesman. It features a 10x10ft ez-up tent, with my logo on it, with sullen banners hanging down. A main front table for autographs, posters, and hats, as well as a pricing sheet. The shirts will be hanging in the rear of the tent, for choosing styles. The sides of the tent feature a 4ft tall fencing to keep out the lingerers, and wise guys trying to swoop up some sullen paraphernalia... Kind of a basic deal I guess but I'm super pumped on it, because it's MINE!
Other then that April will be my last month of practicing, family events, or anything else I want to do that won't get me hurt and to keep me healthy and prepared for the rest of this years shows.

Well, haven't heard from me in awhile, but this is what's been going down the whole year and the last 3 months....
Had an awesome year with around 35 shows from Jan-Aug. Traveled alot in South America and all over the U.S. with no crashes... Until August 27th. I was in Quito Ecuador, where everything didnt quite go as planned. I had a pretty good crash in the middle of my run, that left me with a dislocated shoulder, torn rotator cuff, labral tendon tear, dislocation of my bicep from its biceptal groove, and axillary nerve damage. After 5-6 Doctor visits and a few different doctors opinions, (Sports specialists, orthopedic surgeons, and nueralogists) they said that my main concern is the nerve damage. So long story short, after an electrical nerve conductive test, I've lost the use of my Deltoid shoulder muscle, and its considered paralyzed as of now... So I took about almost 2 months off the bike, because I couldnt even move my shoulder due to extreme pain, but slowly got back into the groove of things and rode one time before this 3 day show I had Oct. 8th, 9th, 10th. to see if i was able to even pull off any tricks. It held up pretty good, but I didnt have alot of confidence in it, and was still able to do another show Oct. 14th in Perris. Then I took about another month off because I was rushing things way to quickly, and didnt ride again until a show in Mexico on Nov. 12th, and after that took another 2 weeks off. I was basically doing what I could to get by in the shows and just make it through safely without hurting myself more... So this all brings me to the 2nd Annual AFMXA Contest last weekend in Pala, CA, in which I was only able to practice about 3 times the week before. I was coming into this event a nervous wreck, knowing I was not 100%, nor feeling all that comfortable on the bike. Once I got out there I put in 2 solid runs with a few flip combos that I've had little to no practice with and winged some stuff that I landed perfectly... I was super pumped to find out that the judges scored me with the podium position of 3rd place in the Pro class.... So all in all the year didnt end on a bad note like it was seeming to be, but rather on a note that it really couldnt get much better then that... Im pumped to be back on the bike and have alot more motivation after this weekends performance and am looking forward to the new season. Happy Holidays to everyone.....
Check out this new gear!

NEWS UPDATE: Well I finally got my new YZ 250 up and running. It's been a real project trying to get this bike ready. I've been working on it for a little over 4 months. I was trying to workout different Sponsor deals for getting parts, getting different things powder-coated, working with a Graphic Artist to design my own graphics how I wanted, and just a bunch of misc. things, that took alot of time. In the end, it made the wait that much more worth it, and it came out exactly how I had pictured it.
I finally got to ride it last week, and it was so nice to have some good, solid, confidence back underneath of me...
Along with my new bike, I also had a fresh lookin helmet painted by a new sponsor, Brady Lambert, at Shiftyill.com. This also took about 2-3 months to complete, but it came out even better then I had visioned in my head. It was exactly the type of tattoo style art that I wanted. On one side there is a Death skull with a dagger going through it, with a banner wrapped around, that has a little motto I like to go by, reading: "The faster you go, the less you die."... The other side, is a picture of a 'Griffin', with it being on top of a cliff scene. A 'Griffin' is a mythological bird in the medieval century, that has the lower body of a Lion, and upper body of an Eagle. It's job was to protect it's kings and castles in medieval Ireland... My dad has a tattoo of it, and I have always used the same picture he had drawn to get the the tattoo, on many of my helmets since my early BMX racing days. I also had the artist add some graphics into it, to break up the black and white tattoo style work, with a Highlighter color, in memory of the man who started my freestyle career, Adam "the Highlighter" Pierce. This is by far the best helmet I've had done. The helmet artist put alot of time, and heart into it, and it's going to be very hard to retire this helmet, or even scratch up for that matter. It really belongs to be on my mantle above my fireplace...
Well That's Different...
The FMX Circus is in Town

The Iron Circus made its debut in Santa Clarita, California this weekend... wait, what the heck is an Iron Circus? No, it isn't the latest competition for the Nitro Circus or some group of traveling iron workers — actually, it's a radical new spin on your typical FMX demo, masterminded by freestyle OG Shane Trittler. Team Metal Mulisha [Todd Potter, Jimmy Fitzpatrick, Colin "Scummy" Morrison] and Team Death Riders [Garrett Ahlf, Jeff Griffin, Scotty Stephens] battled it out in a three-challenge event.
The first event was a capture the flag race. A rider from each team raced head to head on an oval-track collecting flags, with the win going to the rider crossing the finish first with all his flags. The winning team of the second challenge would be determined by who could successfully ride the longest nose wheelie and land the bike on a stand. For the final challenge, a pole was added to the front fender and the riders had to wheelie and collect hanging rings. Afterwards, both teams put on a demo for the fans. Team Metal Mulisha took home the win, but the real winner was LETMESAIL; a non-profit organization who received all proceeds from the event.
Todd "The Lord of the Rings" Potter displays his amazing wheeeeeelie skills.
So, you think you got skills? Bakersfield's Garrette Ahlf shows you what real skills are — peep the nose wheelie-to-bike-on-stand thingy mabobber.
How many autographs do you think the Mulisha boys have signed in their days? Of those, how many do you think were actually on posters and not female chests? Probably not that many...

Xtremely Amped is ready to rock the Siskiyou Golden Fair
Posted by Ray Wolf under General
Xtremely Amped will return to the Siskiyou Golden Fair this Friday night at 8:00 pm. Presented by PremierWest bank, Xtremely Amped is a combination of freestyle motocross stunts and the live powerhouse rock band Major League, featuring lead singer Kaylee Star.
The original concept for Xtremely Amped came from promoter Jeff Poppinga who was bored with all the down-time at extreme sports events.
“The thought was to create a show with no down-time, lots of adrenaline, huge eye candy, and still family friendly,” said Poppinga.
The band Major League was originally formed by a group of young people specifically to perform at Xtremely Amped events. However, the group has expanded and plays at local venues and at church concerts.
Lead singer Kaylee Star is currently in the middle of recording original material for her new CD that has a “today” production mixed with the fun of the 80s, and a powerful, soul-driven voice, according to Poppinga.
Starr, who got her start on the stage at 11-years-old when she filled in for a singer in an 80s band, has had many performances that she says were memorable for her.
“Singing to a crowd of 30,000 in the middle of Hwy 50 in South Lake Tahoe was amazing; Stepping out on the National venue at Cache Creek resort; and of course playing to a packed grandstand at Siskiyou Golden Fair!” said Starr.
Not to forget the riders, World Famous—Jeff Griffin, Garrett Alf, Nick Dunne, and Jesse Jolson who will be performing the high-flying stunts. With a little luck, they’ll be in contact with Siskiyou Youth soon to talk about their riding experiences.
Event sponsor PremierWest bank will be making Xtremely Amped extra special for some fans.
“We are pleased to once again sponsor the event! We will be giving away two motorcycle helmets that will be auto-graphed by the riders. Last year we did a random drawing for the winners with raffle tickets. It was a bit overwhelming to provide everyone a ticket as they walked in. So this year we are going to randomly select seats in the audience that will win the helmets. Additionally, we will be throwing some t-shirts to the crowd as we did last year,” Said Yreka PremierWest Branch Manager Shannon Salvestro.
